Houses made of stones, narrow streets and external stairs are under the rock, dominated by the ancient castle, built by Adriano IV on 1154. On the 1200s Ghino di Tacco enterprises started from there (as Boccaccio said in the tenth day of Decamerone).

S.Pietro, in the centre of the village is a Romanic church (XVII century), restored in 1946 with “terracotta robbiana” and a woody statue of Francesco di Valdambrino.

In front of that, there is S.Agata, a gothic church with a woody crucifix of the XV century.

Near the village, along Cassia road, there is the palace “La posta” (private palace, no visitors), it’s a palace of the Medici period and mannerist style, where lots of famous people like Chateaubriand, Montaigne, Dickens stops.

The castle, just as little outside the village was built in the 200s, but it was restored in 1565 and in 1929; but it conserves the tower and the walls outside.
